Bay Chamber Concerts

For nearly 5 decades, Bay Chamber Concerts Summer Music Festival has brought renowned performers from around the world to midcoast Maine to perform in wonderfully intimate theatres, overlooking rugged working harbors. It all comes together into an ensemble of sights and sounds that you’ll remember for a lifetime – great music, incredible venues, scenic locations!

Penobscot Narrows Observatory Bridge

The Penobscot Narrows bridge is an $85M cable-stayed bridge over the Penobscot River near Bucksport, ME. It offers the tallest public bridge observatory in the world at a height of 420 ft for a $5 admission during the months of May 1-October 31.

Area Lighthouses

If you are a lighthouse buff, there are ten lighthouses within approximately 40-mile distance – both North and South of Camden. The Chamber of Commerce office located at the Public Landing has a directional itinerary available.

Monhegan Boat Lines Puffin/Nature Cruise

Port Clyde, at the end of the peninsula on Route 131, is a classic small Maine fishing village, devoted chiefly to lobstering—but also offering facilities for recreational boaters and tourists. Near its wharves, Port Clyde boasts a general store, shops, art galleries, restaurants, and a limited number of small lodging facilities. It's also where you catch the daily ferry to Monhegan Island. You'll find one of the most photographed places in our area a short distance from the village center: Marshall Point Light, which serves as a sentry at the entrance to the harbor. The former lightkeeper's house is now a historical museum open to the public in season.

Day Sailing on the Schooner Olad in Camden

Let us show you Penobscot Bay, with its rocky shoreline, lighthouses, seals, bald eagles, islands, lobster boats and hidden mansions. Schooner Olad sails daily from Camden, Maine; Memorial Day weekend to mid-October. Schooner Olad offers historic two-hour day sails aboard a completely restored, classic yacht.

Merryspring Gardens & Nature Center

Merryspring Gardens is open from sunrise to sunset. The beautiful 67-acre park includes numerous walking trails, fields of wild flowers, herb and lily gardens, raised beds and the Kitty Todd Arboretum. Pack a picnic lunch and spend an afternoon just relaxing in these quiet surroundings.


Northport Golf Course is just minutes north; located off of Route 1 on Bluff Road, 9 holes and driving range (338-2270). Goose River Golf Course (236-8488) is located on Simonton Road on the Camden/Rockport line. Enjoy a nice round of golf of the 9 hole course and then relax inside the clubhouse for a “pick-me-up” at the snack bar. Samoset Resort (594-2511) located in Rockport offers an 18-hole Oceanside public course, one of America’s top 75.


You can enjoy saltwater at Point Lookout’s private beach access, Northport Beach in Northport, Laite Memorial Beach in Camden, or Walker Park in Rockport. If you prefer freshwater swimming, try Point Lookout’s Knight’s Pond, Megunticook Lake off Route 52, Belfast and Camden YMCA or the public swimming area on Norton’s Pond in Northport Center. All of the above locations include picnic areas.

Year Round Activities and Attractions

Acadia National Park

The First National Park east of the Mississippi River, located just 60 miles from Point Lookout… Awed by its beauty and diversity, early 20th-century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. The park is home to many plants and animals, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Today visitors come to Acadia to hike granite peaks, bike historic carriage roads, or relax and enjoy the scenery.

Offshore Islands

Close by are Vinalhaven, North Haven, Monhegan, Isle au Haut, and Islesboro, all of which can be reached by local ferry service. Vinalhaven and North Haven ferries leave from the ferry terminal on Main Street in Rockland. Crossing times are 1 hour and 25 minutes and 1 hour and 19 minutes respectively. The Islesboro ferry leaves from Route 1, Lincolnville Beach, with a crossing time of 25 minutes. A short drive to Port Clyde will bring to the Monhegan Boat Line, which provides ferry service to Monhegan Island. Crossing time is about one hour.

Camden Hills State Park

Camden Hills State Park signature location is the scenic vista high atop Mt. Battie where sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay, and surrounding islands await via foot or auto road, only five minutes from Point Lookout. On a clear day, visitors can see Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park and Mt. Megunticook, the highest of the Camden. Other hiking opportunities abound and are well-mapped.

Moose Point State Park

Moose Point State Park is located on US 1 between Belfast and Searsport. The park is a relaxing get away from the busy, populated area. Visitors enjoy exploring the evergreen forest, tidal pools and viewing the beautiful Penobscot Bay. There is a short ocean-side trail which takes about 10 minutes to walk. Or you may choose to loop around to the interior of the park and this takes about 25 minutes to walk.

Farnsworth Art Museum & Wyeth Center

The Farnsworth offers a nationally recognized collection of American art including such names as Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Sully, and Maurice Presdergast. It also houses the nation’s 2nd largest collection of works by sculptor Louise Nevelson and its Wyeth Center features works of Andrew, N.C. and Jamie Wyeth.

Owls Head Transportation Museum

Founded in 1974, this museum collects, preserves, and exhibits pioneer aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and other technology significant to the evoluation of transportation and the State of Maine.
